Conpak Director Returns to Alma Mater, The University of Hong Kong, to Share Hong Kong Tax Practice with Prominent Lawyers from Anhui Province

As exchanges and collaboration between Mainland China and Hong Kong continue to deepen, the Peking University Law School and Anhui Province Lawyers Association jointly organised a study and exchange delegation to Hong Kong. In late October, a group of 50 distinguished lawyers from Anhui Province visited Hong Kong to participate in a series of exchange activities. During the visit, the delegation met with representatives from the Law Society of Hong Kong, the Legislative Council and Invest Hong Kong, and also visited the Faculty of Law, The University of Hong Kong for academic exchange and learning. Conpak was invited to share practical insights on Hong Kong taxation and engage with Mainland legal practitioners on the key features and tax incentives of Hong Kong's tax system.

Invest Hong Kong Highlights Hong Kong's Advantages as a Platform for Going Global

During the exchange programme, representative from Invest Hong Kong introduced Hong Kong's unique advantages and its role as a platform for enterprises pursuing international expansion. The session provided participating lawyers with a deeper understanding of Hong Kong's role in connecting Mainland China with international markets and supporting businesses in their cross-border development strategies.

Conpak Highlights Four Key Tax Incentives Through Practical Case Sharing

Ms Yim Kwan-yin Hazel, Director of Conpak and an alumna of The University of Hong Kong, was invited by Invest Hong Kong to return to her alma mater to deliver a sharing session entitled "Hong Kong Tax Practice: Taxation Principles, Tax Incentives and Case Sharing". During the session, Ms Yim introduced Hong Kong's territorial source principle of taxation and four major tax incentives to the prominent lawyers from Anhui Province. These included the Corporate Treasury Centre (CTC) Regime, which offers a preferential tax rate of 8.25% on qualifying profits derived from a group treasury management platform established in Hong Kong; the Patent Box Regime, which provides a preferential tax rate of 5% on qualifying intellectual property income; the Foreign-sourced Income Exemption (FSIE) Regime, under which qualifying foreign-sourced income may be exempt from taxation; and the tax exemption arrangements applicable to funds, family-owned investment holding vehicles (FIHVs) and carried interest. Through practical case studies, Ms Yim illustrated how these tax incentives can be applied in cross-border business operations, treasury management, intellectual property strategies and family wealth planning.

Building Cross-border Industry Connections for Long-Term Success

This exchange is a strong demonstration of Conpak's commitment to strengthening industry exchanges with Anhui and supporting the development of Mainland enterprises. Looking ahead, Conpak will continue to leverage its expertise in Hong Kong taxation and cross-border professional services, actively promoting Hong Kong's business advantages and its role as a platform for enterprises pursuing international expansion.
